2018 TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Annual Meeting

March 12, 2018 By A Very Moving Blog

Last week hundreds of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® franchisees and managers gathered with the executive teams from the US, Canada, and the UK, in beautiful Orlando, FL, for our Annual Meeting. This is our biggest event of the year where we get together to discuss the year that was, and the future of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®.

2017 was a big year for TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® in Canada, seeing record growth. We now have locations nationwide from Halifax to Vancouver, and this event is the perfect place for our franchisees to get together to talk about their successes and challenges. This sharing of ideas, best practices, and mentoring, is one of the biggest advantages of an established franchise system and it greatly reduces the learning curve for new locations.

Our system has experienced 97 consecutive months of growth, and now has 388 franchise locations worldwide. “The brand is stronger as a system today, because of you. We’ve never been as strong as we are today,” said President Randy Shacka

We’ve always considered ourselves a customer service company that happens to move people, and we kicked things off on Sunday morning with the original two men, brothers Brig and Jon Sorber, and the system’s first franchisee, their sister Melanie Bergeron, talking about their favourite customer service stories. The TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® brand began knowing that it is the little things that make the biggest differences for our customers. Sharing these early stories drove home the fact that although technology and systems have changed our business dramatically over the years, the core service we deliver has not changed at all- delivering a stress-free move during one of the most stressful life events for our customers.

“One thing you can’t lax on is the service – that’s our number one differentiator. Are you doing every consistent process daily?  It’s not easy, but they’re the ones that set us apart,” said Shacka.

Some of the milestones our franchisees reached in 2017 included:

  • Moving 525,479 residential customers
  • Moving 43,733 businesses
  • All this while maintaining an average referral rating of 96%
  • 97 months of growth
  • Growing the fleet to 3,033 trucks
  • Employing over 6,500 people

The keynote speaker for Annual Meeting was Eric Chester, a best-selling author and award winning speaker that gave a powerful speech on igniting passion in the workforce and creating a culture where team members want to perform better and stick around longer.

Day two was filled with education sessions and round table discussions, where our franchisees had the opportunity to learn and hone their skills and to meet with our vendors to see and try products and services for potential use at their locations. One of the highlights every year is the Technology Lab where franchisees can get hands-on with all of the latest technology advances as well as test drive some of the new soon-to-launch things we are working on.

Annual Meeting is also an opportunity to celebrate success, and honour those that go the extra mile to make sure our brand stays on top.  This year many of our locations were honoured with awards that recognized everything from growth to humanitarian efforts.
