Generally, when you think about moving- you consider moving locations and although, that is the case it doesn’t always have to be. Business moves often occur within the office, some of this includes, rearranging furniture and equipment, moving boxes to and from storage, relocating desks and cubicles, and reconfiguring workspaces.
We have come up with 3 quick tips for your internal office move here:
1) Schedule during non-business hours. One of the best ways to ensure a seamless move is to schedule it in a way that minimizes disruption to your business operations. Arranging the move in the evening or on weekends is far less distracting for both employees and customers.
2) Use consistent labeling practices for boxes moving to storage. Decide on one labeling format and make sure all boxes adhere to it. You may even want to write down some notes for yourself for when you need to remove items from storage.
3) Have employees pack their own desks and cubicles. Employees know best which items are essential for their own cubicle or desk move. Take this opportunity to do a bit of cleaning and decluttering. If you’re worried about personal items such as photographs and plants being misplaced, take those items home the day before the move.
4) Notify your building manager. Let the building manager know the date and time of your move. They may need to make special arrangements to let the movers in after hours, or may request that you book elevator time if moving between floors.
