1. Use the rule of three
To figure out how many boxes you should be prepared to pack with, take a look around to estimate the number of boxes you will need. Multiple that number by 3 to find out how many boxes you will actually need for your move.
2. Use smaller boxes to save yourself from straining your back
By using smaller boxes, it will be a lot easier and efficient for you and your movers to lift and carry your belongings. Moving is already stressful as it is, so do what you can to try and prevent any injuries!
3. Keep calm and keep packing
When it comes to moving, be mindful that there is no easy way around an inevitable mess when you pack, but don’t be discouraged. Keep your head up! Do not rush the packing process to avoid creating disorganization and more work when you unpack. Be patient with yourself and everything will get done in due time.
4. Prepare a first-night moving survival kit
To avoid the unpacking nightmare of digging through all your boxes to find what you need, gather all of your essentials in one box to take with you. Pack the essentials such as a toothbrush, paper towels, soap, trash bags, phone charger, towel, and skincare items. This will ease you into your first night during your move if you do not finish packing that day.
5. Get rid of the unnecessary clutter in your new space
To make your move easy and to maximize space, take pictures of the items that you feel sentimental attachment to rather than have them eventually sitting in a corner or closet in your new home. Throw away or donate anything you do not need – lighten your load to make the process stress-free and efficient.
