This year is our seventh annual Career Move Month campaign, and there are plenty of incredible job opportunities that we are offering as we approach our busy summer months.
You may have read our previous article on how to construct a detailed and professional resume. Now we want to share a few more tips on how to prepare for your interview. We understand the pressure and stress that comes with preparing for an interview, but don’t worry because these tips will surely make a good impression on your future boss.
Be Early But Not Too Early:
The golden rule is to be 15 minutes early for your interview. Giving yourself a 15-minute window gives you time to arrive to your interview comfortably. This eliminates rushing to get ready, traffic, and ultimately illustrates punctuality and responsibility to the employer.
Get Rid of Your Cell Phone!
We are in a technologically obsessed era, so it’s understandable why you want to check your cell phone all the time. When it comes to something as important as a job interview though, that device should be on silent or turned off, and out of sight. If your cell phone is ringing or beeping during your interview it doesn’t leave a good impression as a candidate and it is rude to the prospective employer.
Arrive Prepared:
Always be prepared prior to your interview. The majority of the time, we don’t know what the employer is going to ask, but it is important to be ready to explain why you’re a good fit for their company, what makes you different compared to others, your strengths and weaknesses, and most importantly, your understanding of the role/position and company.
Dress for the Part & Maintain Eye Contact:
Here’s the thing- professionalism is key, so you should dress professionally for an interview. A mover or driver doesn’t need to wear a suit and tie for an interview, but wearing clean unwrinkled pants and shirt shows you care about how you look and helps the employer see you’ll care about how you’ll look to their customers as well.
In addition to dressing for the role, it is important to be clear and concise when speaking to the interviewer and to ensure that there is good eye contact. It will illustrate confidence, preparedness, and experience. And don’t forget to smile!
Now that you know how to make a good impression during your job interview, good luck in your search and don’t forget we’re hiring too! If you’re interested in looking at our job opportunities, click ‘here’.
