Halloween is quickly approaching. If you’ve moved recently, you probably still have tons of moving boxes laying around that need to be recycled. Don’t get rid of them yet! You can re-purpose these cardboard boxes by turning them into Halloween “boxtumes.” Here are some simple to make box costume ideas:
Halloween “Boxtume” Ideas
Popcorn
It’s not a night out at the movies without a proper box of popcorn! This costume is simple to make. Simply use strips of red and white wrapping paper to make the stripes and bunch up pieces of yellow tissue paper to act as the popcorn. Use an elastic or string and make straps to go around the shoulders.
Milk and Cookies
Got two kids who both need costumes? Make them a matched set with this cute “milk-and-cookies” themed boxtume. All you need is white and black paint for the milk and brown paint for the cookies. Cut out two cookie-shaped circles, for both front and back. Paint the words “milk” on the other moving box. Just like the previous costume, use elastic or string to make straps to keep it up on their shoulders.
Lego Piece
This adorable Lego costume is simple to put together. All you need is a moving box, six disposable plastic cups and a can of red spray paint. Affix the cups to the front of the box with glue or tape and paint the whole thing red. Add straps and you’re done!
Mint-in-Box-Barbie
Got a Barbie lover in your house? Making this costume really shine might take a bit of extra work, but the end result is worth it.
Step one is easy enough – spray paint a moving box pink all over and cut out the front. The harder part comes when trying to put on the Barbie logo. You can try to replicate the infamous font by hand with paint, but it’s much easier to search for the logo on the internet and print it out. The same goes with the “Mattel” logo. Once you’ve got the logos on paper, glue or tape them on and you’re done!
