FAQs in the Moving Industry

January 19, 2023 By A Very Moving Blog

At TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®, our movers are asked a variety of questions. Fortunately, every TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® mover works on mutiple jobs during their training, so they’re ready to respond to whatever a customer may ask.

Though no move is exactly the same, there are some frequently asked questions our customers tend to ask.  Here are the top five most commonly asked questions:

How long have you been with the company?

Because being a mover with TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® is a great way to put money into your pocket while going to school, many of our movers are young students. This is often why they’re asked how long they have been with the company. Usually, the reason customers ask is to make sure that the movers are reliable and able to handle their items carefully.

Each mover’s answer will vary because some employees will work only during the summer (students) and others have worked for us for years. Regardless of the time, they’ve spent with TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®, all of our movers are professionally trained and ready to treat your belongings with the care they deserve.

Has everything been secured and wrapped?

When you hire TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®, in addition to having professionally-trained movers on your job, your move will always include a complimentary padding and stretch wrapping to protect all of your furniture and breakables.

How long will this take you?

At TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®, we charge an all-inclusive rate based on the time it takes us to move you. Before the move even happens, an estimator will work with the customer to understand what belongings will need to be moved. Some of the things that will determine the total amount of time a move takes will be:

  • How many items we are moving
  • How far we will be travelling
  • How many stops we need to make
  • Are items going into or coming out of storage
  • Are stairs or elevators involved
  • Will all of your boxes be packed, marked, and sealed before we arrive or will you be doing some last minute packing while we load the truck

Our estimators work with our customers to get this estimate as accurate as possible. The more precise a customer can be when answering these questions, the more accurate we can be when determining how long it will take (and what it will cost you). We know that in addition to cost, moving days can often have strict timelines. Our estimators are often former movers, so they’re very good at predicting how long a move will take.

Is that item heavy?

This is a very popular question with customers that have pianos or large antiques. The question is often asked because a customer is worried about damaging the item. Fortunately, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® movers are well prepared. Every morning each location has a group meeting to talk about how to safely lift and move larger items.

They will also practice lifting and wrapping large items several times a month at each location.

Can the truck fit all of those items?

In addition to understanding how much time to allocate to each move, our estimators are great at understanding how many trucks your move will require. Throughout each move, our teams work to place and pack items safely and securely into the truck. Customers are often surprised once they see everything loaded into one of our trucks, and how much space they were able to save.
