At TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®, giving back isn’t just something we do, it is truly a part of who we are. It is such a part of who we are that we formalized it as one of our core values. Our founder Mary Ellen Sheets set the tone when after her first year in business, she donated all her profits to 10 different charities. It is this spirit that gives meaning to the company’s motto: “Movers Who Care®.”
We’re very proud that since 2009, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® locations across North America have donated hundreds of thousands of service hours and millions of dollars to charity.
Our locations love to connect with their communities by supporting local charities and initiatives all year long, but giving back at the holidays feels even more special.
Here are just some of the things our franchisees and their staff have been doing this holiday season:
Our TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Ottawa, ON location has been very busy spreading Christmas cheer this season. They have partnered with Toy Mountain– for the 4th consecutive year, helping to collect and distribute toys to over 20,000 children that would otherwise have been without a gift to open on Christmas morning.
In addition they are very proud to have partnered with The Shoebox Project Ottawa, distributing gift filled shoeboxes to women impacted by homelessness in their community. In total, they picked up and delivered 3,000 shoeboxes at 21 locations.
Each year our TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Oshawa & Peterborough, ON franchise partners with Keller Williams for their annual Turkey Drive. They pick up all the dry goods and the turkey’s and deliver them to a school where the Keller Williams team puts together 1000 dinners for families in need.
They held a Food Drive at the Metro store in Cobourg, where they were able to collect a van full of food and about $400 in cash for donations to the Northumberland County Food 4 all food bank.
They also support the Bethesda House delivering gift baskets for the women and children there.
Our TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Kitchener Cambridge Waterloo, ON location collected donations for the Cambridge Self-Help Food Bank which will go to local families within the community. They’ve also donated money to the organization, with $200 coming from R. W. Dyer Realty Inc.
Our TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Etobicoke, ON location participates in the local Santa Claus parade each year, and for the second year in a row supported Shoe Boxes of Hope by picking up and dropping off donations.
Out west, brothers Chibuike and George Nwajiaku, owners of the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Calgary and TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Edmonton, AB locations support local Albertan Can Man Dan throughout the year collecting school supplies for local children and holding Food Drives at the holidays for those that need a bit of help.
These are just a few examples of the good work our franchisees and staff do to give back in the communities where they live and work.
At TWO MEN AND A TRUCK, we don’t just do business in our local communities, we are a part of them. Living our Core Values and truly being the Movers Who Care® means helping out when you can. It makes the Holiday Season more special and it feels really great too!
