This week’s High Five Friday goes out to Grant Carter, from TWO MEN AND A TRUCK ® Halton, Ontario!
March is Career Move Month, so this week we want to highlight one of the many people who have moved their careers forward with TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®. The TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® franchise system offers fantastic opportunities for career growth and advancement. Our Core Purpose here at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® is Moving People Forward, and that goes for our employees as much as it does for our customers.
Wendell Costello, Franchisee of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK ® Halton, Ontario had this to say about Grant Carter, his Operations Manager.
Grant is loyal and dedicated to the success of our system. He demonstrated an understanding of the big picture from day one. He understood that we all benefit from making the business a success and he was flexible and willing to step up in any situation day or night. He also demonstrated a willingness to learn and grow. He would take conversations we would have and come back with his interpretation to ensure his understanding was right. It was never a question whether Grant would assume a management role with our organization, It just a matter of when. I have hired numerous people with more experience than Grant for the role and quickly discovered that Grant had traits that the others didn’t. He is dedicated, committed and determined. You either have these traits or you don’t, It is not something you can train into someone. Grant has over the years become one of my most valuable assets.
We asked Grant about his time with TWO MEN AND A TRUCK ® Halton, Ontario, and what kinds of career paths are available to newcomers; here’s what he had to say.
I started out in the moving industry on trucks 15 years ago and have been serving customers with TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® for 11 years. When I joined TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® in 2007 I knew much about how to move furniture, but today I know that to be a great mover you need to truly understand what it means to serve your customer. This is one of the many things that I have learned in my time with TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® and one of the many things that makes this company so great. It really is the little things that can make or break a customer opinion. This industry never fails to provide us with unique challenges whether you are an entry level mover, a seasoned driver, work out of the office or you are a manager these challenges await us all. This company has taught me not only to take on these challenges with a customer service approach and come together to turn what was a challenge into learning opportunities for everyone.
Everything I have learned while working for TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® has not just helped me to grow professionally but has taught me so much that I have applied to my everyday life allowing me to be able to manage my personal life and start a family. I can’t adequately express the gratitude I have towards my franchisee’s Wendell and Elaine, the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® brand, and its customers for the time, money and patience that has been invested towards the learning opportunities. Looking back at not just how much we as a brand have grown, but how much I as well as the great people in this organization have grown I feel so much pride in what it is we do.
Currently looking back, as an Operations Manager when I am asked what are the advantages of working for TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®? With short answer I would need to say growth opportunity, both personal and professional. The best part about it is this brand isn’t going to slow down its growth, so anyone willing to learn can achieve it. I can’t wait to help take on what 2018 and beyond has to offer!
Thank you, Grant. Being known as the Movers Who Care® doesn’t just happen because we say it. It happens because we do it. We’re all proud to be a part of a company that provides such a wide variety of career opportunities. Thank you for being a great example of how a person can start out as a mover, and end up being an Operations Manager. High Five!
