4.3 Million Canadians move every year. That translates to about 1.6 Million families. About 13 % of those families move in the month of June. Of the families that move in June, approximately one-third pick June 30th as their move date. So in Toronto for example, this means 30,000 people are expected to move on June 30th.
Their are many reasons so many Canadians choose June 30 to move. The major factors are :
- The end of the school year
- Property Taxes and Rental Leases
- Canada Day
- Weather
Property taxes and many rental leases are due for the mid year renewal period at the end of June. This prompts home sellers to target their closing date accordingly, and renters to move to their new homes at the end of June.
With the Canada Day long weekend, comes an extra day to unpack without having to take a vacation day at work.
And finally, THE WEATHER! Let’s face it with no snow and some of the lowest chances of rain all year, the end of June starts to look pretty ideal as a move date.
So if you’re thinking about moving at the end of the month, and you haven’t made your arrangements yet, you better do it today! The chances of finding a reputable mover at the last minute are pretty slim.
