Follow The List For Dorms
If you’re moving to a college or university campus, the school will most likely send a list of suggested items to bring along with you. This list can be your starting point. Pay attention to the list of forbidden items, as well. You don’t want to pack your candles and personal microwave if they won’t be allowed in the dorm.
Check With Your Roommates
If you’ll be living with roommates, either in a shared apartment or house, or in a shared dorm, you’ll want to ask what items they’ll be bringing along with them. This way, you won’t end up with two or three of the same item. This will make your packing and moving much easier.
Pack For Communal Cleaning
Unless you are living alone, you will most likely have to share a bathroom with your roommates. This means setting up a shared cleaning schedule so it doesn’t always fall on one person. Even if you are living alone, make sure to pack the appropriate cleaning supplies and toiletries – toilet paper, hand soap, towels, cleaning solutions, sponges and rags, a mop and bucket, etc.
