Spring cleaning is the perfect way to welcome freshness during the warmer seasons! So, we’re tackling that dreaded room: The Bathroom. You definitely don’t want to leave it a mess when you’re showing your home to prospective buyers. Don’t worry – we’ve got you covered! If you follow our simple system, cleaning this room will be a breeze.
Bathroom Cleaning Tips
First things first: Remove all bathmats, towels and clothes hampers, putting everything in the laundry. You’ll also want to empty the trashcan. To make the cleaning process easier, use a bottle of all-in-one bathroom cleaner with a spray nozzle. You’ll also want cleaning cloths, sponges and a few bristled scrubbers with handles.
Cleaning The Toilet
Cleaning the toilet is the worst part of the job – and not only for the obvious reasons. All that kneeling down, hunching over and scrubbing can be hard on your back. That’s why you should get it out of the way first. Spray all around the inside of the toilet bowl, as well as on the seat covers and seat back. After the cleaner has had time to soak in and do its job, use a toilet cleaning brush to scrub away. Don’t forget to also clean the top and sides of the toilet tank. Giving the toilet seat a once-over with a disinfectant wipe is always a good idea.
Cleaning The Bathroom Sink and Mirror
Next we stretch out our sore muscles by reaching up to clean the mirrors above the sink. Make sure to get all the way to the top, using a stepping stool if needed. After the mirrors are taken care of, scrub out the insides of the sink, then clean around the sink edges and counter tops. For an extra touch, put out a new bar of scented handsoap or refill the soap dispenser. Tidy up the counter by tucking away toiletries such as toothbrushes and toothpaste in the medicine cabinet behind the mirror.
Cleaning The Bathtub and Shower
Use the spray bottle to cover the shower walls and bathtub with the cleaning solution. Why not let gravity do some of the work for you? You’ll need to kneel down to scrub the bathtub, but you can save your back some pain by alternating between the tub and the walls, so you’re not stuck in one position for too long. Don’t forget to clean the faucet and shower head!
Cleaning The Bathroom Floor
Sweep up to get rid of all the accumulated dust and hair, then do a wet clean with a mop. Be sure to get into all the corners, around the base of the sink and counters, and especially behind the toilet tank. Put down the bath mat once it’s been washed and dried, then take a step back and enjoy your sparkling clean bathroom!
