TWO MEN AND A TRUCK ® is well-known as a professional moving company, but we also take pride in being active and charitable members of our communities. As a matter of fact, one of our Core Values is giving back – helping out our local communities by supporting local charities and their events.
Each fall we like to highlight all of the great contributions that our franchises have made. All year long, our they look within their community to see where they can help. Below are some examples of how TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Canada® gives back.
Fall Cause Month
Habitat for Humanity
Many of our TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® franchises provide bi-weekly or monthly drop-offs for Habitat for Humanity. They arrange the pick-up and delivery of customers’ furniture that’s still in good condition, to their local Habitat for Humanity.
Backpacks for Bookworms
Earlier this year our TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Kitchener Cambridge and Waterloo location helped to organize donations of backpacks, school supplies and snacks for school children as they headed back to school. These items can be crucial to families as there are some families who are unable to afford these key items to help our children become educated.
Disaster Relief
Late in September the Ottawa and Gatineau region was hit hard by several tornadoes that took a disastrous toll on homes in the area. The area was hit with many power outages and others were left without a place to live while they recovered from the storm. Without hesitating Lyne Vincent, franchise owner of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Ottawa jumped in to help. Her team volunteered to move anyone that was affected by the storm to another location free of charge.
Dine For Dignity
Throughout all of our franchises, we live by our core values, one of our most important being The Grandma Rule®. The rule is simply to treat every customer as if they’re your grandmother. This value is of huge importance to us as we have such great respect and love to share with our elders. Recently TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Etobicoke truly represented this belief when attending and supporting the ESS Support Services Dine for Dignity dinner, which supports Etobicoke seniors in the areas of Care, Health and Wellness and Transportation; to name a few.
Food Drives
Many of our TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® locations organize food drives and volunteer their time during Thanksgiving and key times of need throughout the year. Franchises will often work with their local Food Bank or Salvation Army to help collect donations. Once the event is done, they will then help to deliver all of the food that was donated.
Toy Drives
On top of organizing food drives, some of our locations work with charities to collect toys throughout the months of November and December for families in need to be able to provide presents to their children at Christmas.
TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Ottawa is one of our franchises that actively participates in these types of events. In the past they’ve partnered with Toy Mountain, picking up all toy donations from around the city of Ottawa. Last year their team collected 20,000 children’s toys!
The Mikey On Board Program
The Mikey Network is TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Canada’s “charity of choice.”, Founded in 2003 this charity works to create public awareness and provide education about heart-healthy lifestyles, and place life-saving defibrillators in as many public places as possible
As part of their Mikey On Board program, all TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Canada moving trucks are equipped with a defibrillator, which they call a MIKEY, and all TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Canadian franchisees, as well as all movers, drivers, and staff, have been trained to use a MIKEY.
If you are a charity or know of one that would benefit from our help, be sure to visit our site and contact your local TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® to see how we can help.
