5 Questions to Ask Before Selecting a Home Mover

1) Do you offer free moving quotes?

For homes larger than three bedrooms, try to get an on-site estimate done. For example, our estimators will come out to your home and walk you through a moving estimate right then and there. Make sure to be thorough in identifying all the items you need moved. Don’t forget the basement, attic, garage, shed, anywhere you store things!

2) What kind of training have your movers and drivers completed?

You want to make sure the people packing and moving your furniture know what they’re doing. Our professionally trained movers are taught how to maneuver, wrap, pack and load household items at our on-site training location. They learn to recognize obstacles and empty the house as quickly and efficiently as possible. Before training is finished, each mover must be able to fully pack the back of a training truck with those household items.

3) Do you have expertise for larger items such as moving a piano or moving a large screen television?

Certain items are more valuable than others, and you want to be certain you’re putting your prized possessions in good hands. Be sure to find out whether or not your movers have the knowledge to move those items safely. We can even recommend a local professional to tune that piano once we move it!

4) Do you have full-time employees or do you use temps and day labour?

Be cautious of companies that use temps or day labour because they may not be properly insured. All of our employees are full-time employees and dedicated to moving your belongings safely from one location to the next. We also recommend making sure any company you hire belongs to the Canadian Association of Movers, which represents moving and storage companies with the goal of helping customers connect with reliable, professional moving services.
