We’ve got an exciting announcement from The Mikey Network, our partners for the Mikey-On-Board Program – a program placing MIKEY defibrillators on every single one of our moving trucks.
Just in time for the grand opening of our Mississauga corporate franchise location in Peel Region, The Mikey Network has made the following announcement:
“We’ve committed to placing our MIKEYs (defibrillators) in all 250+ schools in the Peel District- a $500,000, 3 year initiative. This is the largest defibrillator donation ever to a North American School Board.”
Hugh Heron, Chairman of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Canada and Chairman of The Mikey Network, spoke about the importance of defibrillators. “Nineteen lives have been saved by MIKEY defibrillators, including three young students.”
The Mayor of Mississauga, Hazel McCallion, was also in attendance. She said, “We need these [MIKEY defibrillators] all over the place.”
Our Franchise Managers and Owners were also there to celebrate the good news, including Dan Hopkins, General Manager of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Mississauga.
The event concluded with a demonstration of a “live save” showing how a MIKEY defibrillator would be used to help someone suffering Sudden Cardiac Arrest.
Not only will people know there is help close at hand when they see one of our moving trucks, but now every single student, teacher and staff member will have peace of mind in the event of sudden cardiac arrest.
We are very proud to have partnered with The Mikey Network for our Mikey-on-Board program and share their mission to provide MIKEY defibrillators in as many public places as possible. This Peel District School Board program will protect almost 1.3 million people over the course of this 3 year project.
Well done Mikey Network!
