Packing clothes and accessories for a move can be somewhat of a hassle. You don’t want your suits to get wrinkled, you have drawers full of t-shirts and socks, a million pairs of shoes and small accessories that are easily lost.
We’ve asked our professional packers and expert movers to tell us some tips on how to pack clothing for a move.
Closet. It’s best to use wardrobe boxes and leave your clothing on the hangers. This will keep them from getting wrinkled.
Outerwear. Coats and jackets are some of the lighter things you will be packing. For large, lightweight items, you should use a bigger moving box. You’ll be saving the smaller boxes for small heavy items like books.
Shoes. If you’ve kept the original shoe boxes, it’s best to pack your shoes in those. That way, they won’t get squished and will keep their shape. If you don’t have the original boxes, you can pack your shoes together in moving boxes by putting them together pairs, in opposite directions, with heel facing toe. This saves room and will allow you to stack more shoes in top of each other.
Jewellry. Just like your dresser, keep all your jewelry in the jewellry box. We’ll shrink wrap it so nothing will fall out. If it’s a small jewellry box, you might want to put it inside another box full of items. If it’s a large free standing jewellry box, we can safely load into the truck as is.
